St. Paul’s Church is one of those churches which you can whistle past in your car and hardly notice, being set at right angles to the Ringwood to Christchurch road.  It was built in 1842 because the people of “the hamlet of Bisterne in the Vicarage of Ringwood” would otherwise have had to walk the three miles to the Parish Church - not a pleasant trip on a cold winter’s night before tarmac.  It was designed by the Wimborne architect G. Evans, and was consecrated by the Bishop of Winchester in January 1843.

The land on which the church stands was donated by the Mills family and the money for the building was raised partly by public subscription and partly by grants.

A service is held every week, except on the fifth Sunday of each month, when the churches of the parish have a joint service at the Parish Church.  Those who worship at St. Paul also take an active part in the life of the village.
